Behind the Weal is our weekly newsletter, packed with practical advice, thoughtful insights, and high-quality resources to help you live a good life. Members get it delivered to their inbox every Sunday.
If, like many people, you spend every waking moment under pressure: responding, performing, deciding, caregiving, producing, coping, you're likely to feel not just tired, but stretched. Mentally full. Emotionally thin. Physically a little worn down.
Making sure you’re getting enough sleep, eating well, and moving your body helps. But if you still feel depleted, rest may be the missing piece of the puzzle.
At This Life is Good this month, our focus is on Rejuvenation — the fifth path of the Thrivers’ Way and its themes of rest, sleep, relaxation, and restoration.
This week, we’re turning our attention to rest.
Rest is not the same as sleep.
Rest is what happens when we intentionally lower the level of cognitive, emotional, or physical demand on our system and give ourselves a chance to reset.
Without adequate rest, we often feel overwhelmed and drained.
This Week at TLIG
• Rest: What Is It and Why We Need It — we're exploring what rest actually is, why it matters, and how it differs from sleep.
• Rejuvenating Recipe Collection – No.1 — we share simple, nourishing meals designed to support nourishment, rest, and everyday rejuvenation
As you move through the week, I invite you to:
- notice where your life might be asking a little too much of you
- choose one or two ways to lower the load, even briefly (you can find a few practice ideas in this week's article on rest)
I hope you find a moment or two to incorporate a little rest into your days.
Till next time,
Be well ❤️
