A different way to begin the year
The turn of the year often comes with noise. Resolutions. Declarations. Pressure to decide who you’ll be and how you’ll live — immediately.
At This Life is Good, we believe the most meaningful beginnings don’t start with unrealistic goals and productivity plans. They start with reflection and intention.
New Year, New Start 2026 is a 3-week Quest designed to help you pause, reflect, and orient yourself before you rush into action.
New Year, New Start 2026 | A This Life is Good Quest
What is a Quest?
A This Life is Good Quest is a focused, guided period of practice — lasting anywhere from one day to a few weeks — designed to help you experiment with habits, mindsets, and practices that support a happy, healthy, meaningful, and energized life.
Each Quest:
- has a clear theme and intention
- unfolds gently, day by day or week by week
- offers structure without rigidity
- invites depth without overwhelm
How do I 'do' a Quest?
Quests are designed to meet you where you are. You don’t need to complete everything. You don’t need to keep up. And you don’t need to engage in the same way every day or every week.
Instead, think of a Quest as a journey of discovery — one that offers:
- gentle structure
- thoughtful prompts
- supportive practices
- and space to notice what matters
There is no “right” way to do a Quest.
The invitation is to go on the journey and return — again and again — to intention, reflection, awareness, and practice.
How does a Quest unfold?
A Quest unfolds day by day or week by week. Each one has a suggested rhythm, offered as guidance rather than obligation.
For each day or week, the details for that day's or week’s focus will be posted here on this page. To follow along, simply return at the start of each day or week to see what’s been added.
For each day or week, you’ll find:
- an outline of the day's or week’s theme and invitation
- links to any accompanying reflections or posts
- access to Quest resources, where applicable
If a Quest tracker is included, you’ll be able to download it and use it in whatever way feels supportive — whether that’s marking the days you engaged, making notes, or simply keeping it as a gentle reference.
⚠️ Please note that some content on this page is reserved for members, so you'll need to join or log in to unlock resources as the Quest progresses.
If a video is included in the Quest, for example, a movement practice video, we'll link to the page where it will be embedded. Simply log in to play the video when it suits you. You can follow along in real time or return to it later — there’s no set schedule and no expectation to complete every session. The videos — and in particular the movement practices — are offered as support, not obligation. They are there for you to use in whatever way feels most helpful in this season.
About This Quest - New Year, New Start 2026
New Year, New Start 2026 is the first Quest of our Winter Season — devoted to Intention and reflection.

Over three weeks, you’ll be invited to:
- look back on the year that’s ended with honesty and compassion
- make meaning of what challenged you and what sustained you
- honor the ways you nourished yourself in 2025, where eating supported you — and where it didn’t
- reconnect with your body and its wisdom through movement
- begin the year oriented toward what matters most
This Quest lays the foundation for the months ahead.
Remember, you don't have to do all three weeks. You choose how much you engage. Do whatever resonates with you and leave the rest!
Who is this Quest for?
Who is this Quest for?
This Quest is for you if you:
- feel the pull to begin the year more intentionally
- are tired of performative goal-setting
- value reflection as much as action
You don’t need to have clarity yet. This Quest helps you create the conditions for it.
- Week 1 — Reflection: Looking back with honesty
- Week 2 — Nourishment: Listening to what your body and life needed
- Week 3 — Embodied Intention: Letting intention move through the body
Week 1 — Reflection
Looking back with honesty
This week is about making meaning, not judging the past.
You’re invited to reflect on:
- the challenges of 2025
- how those challenges shaped you
- the strength, resilience, or wisdom you gained along the way

A simple Quest tracker is included so you can mark the days you engaged with this week’s reflection. Use it as a supportive tool — to congratulate yourself for simply engaging with the practice — not as a scorecard for measuring 'success' or 'accomplishment'.
Week 2 — Nourishment
Listening to what your body and life needed
This week is about curiosity, not criticism.
You’ll explore:
- how you nourished yourself in 2025
- where eating supported you — and where it didn’t
- what your body might be asking for now
👇 Step 1: Explore the This Life is Good approach to nourishment 👇
👇 Step 2: You're invited to reflect on these questions 👇
- How did you nourish, celebrate, and care for your body in 2025?
- In what ways did you food choices and eating patterns support you last year?
- What eating patterns and food choices didn’t support you last year?
- What beliefs or messages about your body, food choices and eating patterns do you need to let go of in order to cultivate more acceptance and appreciation?
Set aside a few quiet minutes to reflect and write, when you don't feel rushed or under pressure. (First thing in the morning or before bed at night work well for many people). This can take as little as five minutes. The intention isn’t to analyze or judge — simply to notice. Let this be a gentle check-in with yourself, guided by curiosity rather than criticism. If it helps, take a few slow breaths before you begin, and remind yourself: "This reflection is here to support me, not to evaluate or judge me".
If you don't already have one, now's the time to invest in a great journal. I get all of my paper journals here. If you prefer to go paperless, try this great journaling app which I've been using happily for many years.

Week 3 — Embodied Intention
Letting intention move through the body
Intention isn’t only something we think about — it’s something we live.
This week invites you to explore:
- intention through movement
- how your body holds information and insight
- what it feels like to begin the year from the inside out
Begin with the movement practice to gently ground yourself in awareness and come back into your body. Take the opportunity to notice sensation, breath, and how you feel in the moment, without trying to change anything.
After the practice, take a few moments to read this week’s reflection, then sit with the two reflection exercises that follow. Allow the movement to inform what you notice and what emerges, rather than rushing to conclusions.
This is an invitation to let intention move through the body — and to listen to what it has to say.
